Why did Truman establish the socialist school lunch program?
Um mm - because children were malnourished? Ya think? During WW2 millions of rural and farming families were moved into the cities to work in the war machine factories. After the war, the very wealthy did not want to shut down the factories so they needed to produce consumer items and a cl of people who would buy the products - the consumer cl. However, these people were not making enough money to buy to stuff the industrialists were making, they were removed from the fresh foods of the family farm and could not grow their own food in the concrete jungles or afford grocery store prices so school lunches were provided feed kids to keep them from getting certain diseases of malnourishment and to ease up some of the low income to purchase the consumer items. You can call it socialist all day long but it won't make you any smarter or any more aware of the FACTS of American or world history.
