Did anyone else become so depressed from trying to get off Effexor xr, they became suicidal? How do I get off?

I mean I didn't take it for two days and I was hysterically crying wanting to die. Does anyone else have the same experience and where you ever able to successfully ween off of this medication, and how did you do it? If I have to count the granuals in the capsule I will...anything so I don't ever feel like I did that day.
