Discusses court delay and the saying, “justice delayed is justice denied.”?
We are guaranteed the right to a speedy trial. In many cases the process is drawn out leading many to take plea deals regardless of guilt or innocence to end the process and go on with their lives. It seems that the justice system is more concerned with convictions, and not truth of the matter at hand. They is such talk of overcrowding of the prison system. It is amazing how many inmates sit in jail waiting only to be seen by a probation officer or a court date for release. Then the delay is said to be caused by the lack of officials to carry out the services of the court. If there was more continuity of duty it seems that justice and the justice system as a whole would be better served.
