None of these are particularly good answers but D. one of the most remarkable phenomena of the late 20th century, is the only answer that makes any sense at all. The author of this question is probably referring to around the year 1990 when most of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe decided to abandon communism for capitalism. The only true communist countries left are N. Korea and Cuba. For most of the 20th century the world was divided into two waring camps, the communist countries headed by the Soviet Union and the capitalist countries headed by the US. Communism was considered a strong economic and political system that struggeled with capitalism for global domination.
